GKC Alumnae Panhellenic: Annual Meeting – APRIL 29, 2017
The Greater KC Alumnae Panhellenic Association was founded in 1901 and is made up of twenty-two NPC sororities that promote sorority life in the community. Over 170 sorority women attended the 2016 annual meeting, “Sister! It’s All Greek to Us” and $15,000 in scholarships were awarded to six deserving scholarship recipients – this was up $5,000 from last year! The silent auction and 75/25 raffle drawing added $6,000 to the Scholarship Fund for 2017.
This year we honored Gamma Phi Beta's “Woman of the Year”, Julie Colebank Scott, for her remarkable contributions to our sorority. Additional special events include a silent auction, a 75/25 raffle drawing, door prize drawings, and more! The annual meeting is held at the Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kansas.
Founders Day Celebration 2016 – November 10, 2016
On Thursday, November 10, 2016 our chapter came together to celebrate 142 years of sisterhood. We celebrated ritual, honored our 25, 50, and 75 year members (by initiation year), our 2016 Woman of the Year – Julie Colebank Scott, and our IIKE award recipient – Kathy Beeman. The reception began at 5:30 p.m. and dinner was served at 6:15 p.m. A cash bar was available. Our dinner menu included the Hallbrook House Salad, Boursin Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast paired with parmesan risotto asparagus, tomato, and spinach in a pink peppercorn butter sauce, and a tasty chocolate favor from Annedores Chocolates for dessert. Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae, Kelly Eckerman – KMBC 9 News Anchor, was our fabulous guest speaker. Throughout the night we also had fun participating in our annual "Share the Pot" 75/25 Raffle Drawing to raise funds for our International philanthropy, Girls on the Run as well as for our collegiate chapters KU, KSU, MU, MSU, RU, WSU and newly added UCM! It was a great night had by all!
GIRLS ON THE RUN FALL 5K – NOVEMBER 2016
We had yet another successful Girls on the Run Fall 5K at Arrowhead Stadium. With over 4,000 runners we had our work cut out for us at the Hospitality area. The Greater KC Alumnae Chapter of GPB provided all of the bagels for the event and our very own alumna, Diana Zarda with Hiland Dairy, provided yummy chocolate milk (hence the giant cow)! We arrived bright and early to slice bagels, bananas, and apples to be picked up at the finish line. It sure was chilly, but we can't wait to do it again in the Spring!
